5th Generation - The Toyota BMW A90 and A91 Supra
The fifth-generation Supra, known as the A90 or J29, was introduced in 2019 and is a collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The car is based on the BMW Z4, but it has been extensively reworked by Toyota to give it a unique personality. The styling is sleek and modern, with sharp lines and a low stance. The engine is a 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. The Supra is available with an eight-speed automatic transmission and in 2023 Toyota announced that a manual transmission Gazoo Racing A91 Supra will hit the market.
The fifth-generation Supra has been well-received by both critics and fans. The car has excellent handling and acceleration, and the interior is well-designed and comfortable. However, some fans were disappointed that the car is not available with a manual transmission, and others felt that the BMW partnership diluted the Supra’s identity.
