Since its inception in 2016, the sixth-generation Camaro has solidified its status as a sleek and powerful sports car, reaching its pinnacle with the ZL1 1LE track athlete. Throughout its production cycle, the Camaro has delighted enthusiasts with a range of special editions, from the charismatic 50th Anniversary and Wild Cherry Design Package to the edgy Shock and Steel and Redline Editions. As the curtain falls on the Gen Six Camaro with the conclusion of the 2024 model year, Chevrolet pays homage to its agility and style by unveiling the final special edition: the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition, available in the LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trims exclusively in North America.
The 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition brings forth a sense of nostalgia that harkens back to the roots of the Camaro, tracing its lineage to the development of the first-generation model. The original code name for the Camaro program in the 1960s was “Panther,” which served as the inspiration for the design team at Chevrolet Performance Design Studio when shaping the sixth generation.
Rich Scheer, design director at Chevrolet Performance, emphasizes the significance of the Panther code name, stating, “We found it fitting for this Collector’s Edition Camaro to officially recognize the significance of the original code name and share it with Camaro enthusiasts.” The influence of the Panther name can be seen in the choice of colors: Panther Black Metallic for the SS trim and Panther Matte Black for the ZL1 trim.
The 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition enhances the LT/RS, LT1, and SS trims with exclusive features. A striking Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat paint adorns the exterior, complemented by Satin Black accent stripes. The LT/RS, LT1, and SS trims can be equipped with 20-inch Satin Black wheels or optional Polished Forged Wheels. Additionally, the front splitter from the 1LE package and the ZL1 package’s rear spoiler are included on coupes.
For the limited-edition ZL1 Collector’s Edition, which boasts an impressive 650 horsepower LT4 engine, the exterior showcases the Panther Black Matte paint. This marks the first time Chevrolet offers a matte paint finish from the factory for the Camaro. The ZL1 also features the front splitter from the ZL1 1LE and the ZL1 1LE’s rear wing on coupes. The Black Metallic ZL1 stripe, red brake calipers, and black lug nuts complete the distinctive exterior appearance. Inside, all 350 Collector’s Edition ZL1 vehicles receive a serialized steering wheel badge denoting their place in the production sequence.
To tie all the Collector’s Edition builds together, the Camaro receives unique front fender script badging that incorporates a panther into the “R,” symbolizing the connection to the Panther code name. The steering wheel badge also features a panther emblem, reinforcing the special edition’s theme. Furthermore, the Camaro builds showcase special floor mats with a laser-etched aluminum Collector’s Edition logo and distinct black interior treatments.
Purchasers of the Camaro Collector’s Edition will receive a welcome kit containing two posters that commemorate the Camaro’s different generations and the Collector’s Edition itself. This kit serves as a special memento for owners to celebrate their love for the iconic sports car.
Owners of the Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition are in for an additional treat. They will receive a bespoke Canfield Sport 45mm watch from Shinola, specially crafted to commemorate the Collector’s Edition. The watch features an inscribed serial number that matches the number on their vehicle’s steering wheel badge. Designed with the same ebonized presence as the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition, the watch showcases Camaro and panther motifs, from the engraved panther on the watch band to the Camaro logo on the watch face. Awenate Cobbina, CEO of Shinola, expresses pride in the partnership, stating, “Shinola is proud to share a legacy for quality, craftsmanship, and performance with the Camaro nameplate, and we cherish the Detroit heritage that both Shinola and Chevrolet have.”
In addition to the Collector’s Edition, the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro receives some notable updates. Available in both coupe and convertible variants, the LT, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trims will continue to be offered, with the 1LE option available on SS and ZL1 models. The powertrain options for the 2024 Camaro include the 3.6L V6, 6.2L LT1 V8, and the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8. New exterior color options, Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow, are available across all trims.
Chevrolet’s 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition serves as a fitting tribute to the sixth-generation Camaro’s enduring legacy. With design elements inspired by the Panther code name, this special edition encapsulates the spirit of the iconic sports car. From the exclusive paint finishes and unique accents to the bespoke watch and welcome kit, Chevrolet has created a remarkable package that honors the Camaro’s history while enticing enthusiasts. As Chevrolet dealers begin accepting orders for the 2024 Camaro, the legacy of this beloved sports car continues to captivate automotive enthusiasts across the globe.
