AE91
The successor to the iconic AE86 was the Toyota AE91/92(E90 models), introduced in the late 1980s. These featured several key design features over its predecessor. It moved to a front-wheel-drive layout with a more refined chassis, offering improved handling and ride comfort. This generation also featured a range of engine options, including 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter 4A-series engines, providing better fuel efficiency and increased power output compared to the AE86. Toyota enhanced the safety features with optional anti-lock brakes (ABS) for improved braking performance, Electronic Fuel Injection and of course upgraded suspension. The AE90 models proved to be a popular and practical choice for drivers seeking a reliable and comfortable compact car, continuing the Corolla’s legacy as a highly successful and well-rounded vehicle.
