Koenigsegg Automotive has once again proven its dominance in the realm of high-performance megacars by breaking its own 0-400-0 km/h record on June 27th at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, piloted by test driver Markus Lundh, completed the run in an astonishing 27.83 seconds, surpassing the previous record set by the Regera in 2023 by nearly a full second. This feat further solidifies Koenigsegg’s reputation for pushing the boundaries of automotive performance.
The Absolut is a testament to Koenigsegg’s engineering prowess. It is powered by a 1280 bhp (1600 bhp on E85) twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which boasts the world’s lightest V8 crankshaft, weighing just 12.5 kg. This flat-plane, 180-degree crankshaft enables more power and efficiency, allowing the engine to achieve a high 8500 rpm rev limit. Additionally, the engine’s design includes super-light connecting rods and pistons, which help counter the vibrations typically associated with flat-plane engines, ensuring a smooth yet powerful performance.
The Jesko Absolut stands out with its streamlined, aerodynamically optimized body, which differentiates it from the Jesko Attack. By removing drag-causing elements and incorporating new, sleek surfaces, especially at the rear, the Jesko Absolut achieves a drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.278. This minimal drag is critical for its record-breaking straight-line speed, making the car appear as seamless and sleek as a land-based fighter jet.
