The world of rap and hip-hop was forever changed by Tupac Shakur and his powerful body of work, which influenced music and culture from the moment he emerged until the day his lyrics stopped being written. Now, for the first time ever, collectors have the opportunity to own a significant—albeit tragic—piece of that legacy. The 1996 BMW 750iL in which Tupac Shakur was fatally shot on the night of September 7, 1996, has officially been listed for sale through Celebrity Cars Las Vegas.

According to the listing, this marks the first time the vehicle has ever been offered for sale or publicly displayed since Tupac’s death in 1996. Originally leased to Death Row Records, the shooting occurred on September 7, 1996, at approximately 11:59 p.m., when this very BMW 7 Series was stopped at a red light at the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas. Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight were inside the BMW when a late-model Cadillac pulled up alongside them and opened fire. Suge Knight was struck by shards of glass, while Tupac was hit by four .40-caliber rounds fired from a Glock handgun. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries days later.

Although the car has since undergone a comprehensive restoration to return it to the condition it was in prior to the shooting—commissioned by the vehicle’s most recent owner—one small but significant detail from that night has been intentionally preserved. A small indentation on the exterior, believed to be the result of one of the bullet impacts, remains visible. Aside from that, the rest of the vehicle appears as clean and pristine as it was the day before the shooting. The interior door panels also conceal weld marks from the repairs carried out after the incident, further contributing to the car’s authenticity and historical significance. For greater historical accuracy, the wheels have been swapped to the correct style that it had the day of the shooting.

This historically important 1996 BMW 750iL is currently on display at the Celebrity Cars Las Vegas showroom for those who wish to see it in person. With a price tag of $1,750,000, the car offers not only a tangible piece of hip-hop history but also documentation verifying its provenance and ownership timeline. It represents a rare collector’s opportunity to own one of the most historically significant BMW 7 Series vehicles in existence.
