Jerry Seinfeld’s RUF-Modified 1971 Porsche 911S Coupe Sells for Big Money at Auction

Jerry Seinfeld is a well-known Porsche aficionado, and every so often, he parts ways with a gem from his impressive collection. Just this past week, one particularly special car — a RUF-modified 1971 Porsche 911S Coupe — crossed the auction block at Bring-a-Trailer, fetching a remarkable $657,000.

That hefty price tag is well deserved. Seinfeld purchased this 1971 Porsche 911S Coupe back in 2008 and promptly shipped it to RUF in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, where it spent three full years undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment and extensive modification process. The body was completely stripped and repaired, the chassis was reinforced, and the rear wheel arches were flared before the car was repainted in its original Gemini Blue Metallic. Additional exterior details include a power-operated sunroof, H4 headlights, Euro-style taillights, and a single left-side mirror — all contributing to its period-correct yet subtly enhanced appearance.

Staying true to its classic roots, the 911S rides on Fuchs wheels — 15×7 inches in the front and 15×8 inches in the rear — featuring satin black recesses that perfectly complement the exterior. Inside, the cabin exudes vintage racing charm, with reclining sport seats trimmed in black leather and Pepita cloth inserts. A RUF-branded 10,000-rpm tachometer takes center stage, flanked by VDO gauges that include a 180-mph speedometer, a clock, and a series of combination instruments. Impressively, the odometer shows just 2,300 miles, representing the distance driven since the RUF build was completed.

Beneath the rear decklid lies the heart of the transformation — a RUF-tuned twin-plug 3.4-liter flat-six engine equipped with individual throttle bodies and electronic fuel injection. Power is sent through a six-speed manual transaxle, and a RUF exhaust system ensures that the flat-six delivers its distinctive, intoxicating symphony in full voice.

With its rich provenance, meticulous craftsmanship, and rare blend of RUF engineering and Seinfeld ownership, this Porsche 911S Coupe is worth every penny of its sale price. And knowing Jerry Seinfeld, he’d probably be the first to remind you — the washer fluid is fine.
