Toyota is introducing exciting updates to the GR86 for the 2024 model year, offering enthusiasts a double dose of pure driving delight. The first addition is the limited GR86 TRUENO Edition, featuring a nostalgic two-tone look in either Halo and black or Track bRed and black. Additionally, a Performance Package with SACHS Dampers and Brembo Brakes will be available as standard equipment on the TRUENO Edition and as an upgrade package for other GR86 models.

The GR86 TRUENO Edition, built on the Premium grade, will be offered in both manual and automatic transmission variants, with only 860 units produced for the US market. Each TRUENO Edition will be marked with a number plate on the driver’s side dash, highlighting its rarity. The model will showcase a black wrapped hood, black TRUENO Edition side panel graphic, and a black painted duckbill spoiler, complemented by either Halo or Track bRed accents. To pay homage to the 1980s model that inspired its design, the TRUENO Edition will feature a TRUENO Edition badge on the front bumper lip and rear decklid. Additional design elements include black metallic finished 18-inch, 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels exclusive to the TRUENO Edition, as well as black door handles and mirror caps.

Inside the special edition GR86, Ultrasuede® sport seats adorned with attention-grabbing red leather will catch the eye. The seats are accompanied by a red-stitched shift boot and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, enhancing the driver-focused cockpit. A TRUENO Edition logoed shift knob and all-weather floor/trunk mats add a unique touch to the interior. The GR86 TRUENO Edition also comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen display featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, as well as a premium eight-speaker audio system, creating an immersive driving experience.

The 2024 model year introduces suspension and braking upgrades with the GR86 Performance Package. This package includes ZF SACHS Dampers and Brembo Brakes, and it will be standard on the TRUENO Edition. Customers can also opt for the Performance Package as an add-on for new 2024 GR86 models or retrofit it to any GR86 from the 2022 or 2023 model years (requires 18-inch wheels). TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has specially tuned this package to optimize handling, ride comfort, and brake system consistency for the GR86.

For manual transmission models, a new addition is the Active Safety Suite, previously available only on automatic transmission models. This suite utilizes a stereo camera to monitor the road ahead and includes features such as Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, and High Beam Assist. These active safety features complement Toyota’s Star Safety System™, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), and more.

The 2024 Toyota GR86 TRUENO Edition will be available in limited quantities in the upcoming winter season. Pricing details for the GR86 TRUENO Edition and the complete 2024 GR86 lineup will be announced later this year.
