Introduced in 1997, the LS1 engine was featured in the fifth-generation Chevrolet Corvette (C5). It departed from traditional V8 design with an all-aluminum block and cylinder heads. The LS1 had a 5.7-liter (346 cubic inches) V8 configuration. It was praised for its efficiency and power-to-weight ratio.

The LS1’s specifications include a 5.7-liter displacement, V8 configuration, aluminum block, aluminum cylinder heads, and an output of approximately 305 to 350 horsepower and 335 to 375 lb-ft of torque in stock form. Due to its lightweight and performance capabilities, the LS1 became popular for engine swaps in various vehicles.

Due to its performance potential, lightweight construction, and relatively compact size, the LS1 engine became a popular choice for engine swaps into various vehicles, from muscle cars to trucks and even some sports cars. The engine responded well to modifications, and the aftermarket support for LS-based engines grew significantly.
