With the 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert, Porsche honors the late Swiss racing legend with his first victory of the iconic 917 almost 55 years ago. On August 10, 1969, Jo Siffert and Kurt Ahrens clinched victory at the 1,000-kilometre race at the Österreichring, marking the 917’s first international triumph. Initially considered difficult to drive due to its high speeds and aerodynamics, the 917’s success was a significant milestone for Porsche.
The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur experts crafted this unique 911 tribute car as part of the Sonderwunsch program. Scheduled to be displayed at Swiss Porsche centers in August 2024 and later highlighted at the “Auto Zürich” trade fair in November, the car pays meticulous homage to Siffert. Featuring a Pure White paint job with Viper Green accents, reminiscent of the original 917, the tribute model also sports the “29” race number and classic Porsche lettering, reflecting the design of the historic race car.

Jo Siffert’s family, including his son Philippe and grandson Jérémy, closely collaborated on this project. Philippe expressed excitement at seeing a car that authentically honors his father’s legacy. The tribute car incorporates historical details and modern craftsmanship, transforming the rare 911 GT3 RS into a unique piece embodying Jo Siffert’s spirit.
The 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert features a 4.0-liter flat-six engine with 518 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. The interior, with Race-Tex in Black and Guards Red, includes custom touches like Jo Siffert’s autograph embossed on the center console and key case, making it a fitting homage to the legendary Swiss racer.
The 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert is a remarkable homage that beautifully bridges the past and present, keeping Siffert’s legacy alive. This tribute car, with its refreshed yet distinct take on the 917 livery design, elegantly translates the historic racing prestige to the modern platform of the GT3 RS. It’s a small gesture, yet an incredible nod to the Siffert legacy.
