Subaru announces a limited-edition variant of the ever-popular BRZ platform with the 2025 BRZ Series.Purple, a striking release exclusive to only 500 vehicles. This special edition debuts a brand-new Galaxy Purple Pearl paint that sets the Series.Purple apart with a bold, unique presence, making it instantly recognizable. It will make its first appearance at Subiefest Texas on October 19, where Subaru fans will get an up-close look at the latest addition to the BRZ lineup.

Under the hood, the Series.Purple carries the trusted 2.4-liter naturally aspirated SUBARU BOXER® engine, delivering 228 horsepower. Paired with a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission, this edition ensures a pure, hands-on connection to the road, enhancing the BRZ’s already engaging performance. Unique touches like the STI short-throw shifter and a Flexible V-Bar further elevate its driving dynamics, while black badging, satin-finish alloy wheels, and custom interior details—such as black Ultrasuede® upholstery with exclusive gray stitching—enhance the model’s refined, exclusive appeal.

Another piece in the growing BRZ variant collection amongst the many released in recent memory? It seems Subaru has an answer for everything, whether the demand is there or not. For me, the real silver lining in the Series.Purple is the short-ratio six-speed manual transmission—a feature any true automotive enthusiast can appreciate as manuals become rarer in today’s market. It’s a nice set of touches, adding some fresh allure to the platform, but it does raise the question: is this too much for an already beloved BRZ? A unique addition, no doubt, yet it’s one that feels like Subaru is walking a fine line between enhancing and overextending a classic.
