After a six-year wait, De Tomaso has finally revealed the production-spec version of the stunning P72. First showcased as a concept at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the P72 has returned, but this time in its final form.
De Tomaso has developed an all-new carbon fiber chassis featuring a unibody monocoque crafted from a single, uninterrupted piece of carbon fiber. This design results in increased rigidity and reduced weight. The low-slung driver position and the strategic placement of the powertrain at the chassis’s lowest point ensure optimal weight distribution and a low center of gravity—critical to the P72’s analog driving experience.

Emphasizing its analog ethos, the interior is devoid of digital screens, overlays, and infotainment systems. Instead, the cockpit is adorned with beautifully handcrafted dials and switches. Both the interior and exterior feature meticulously milled aluminum components, which are bead-blasted, hand-brushed, or hand-polished, each showcasing intentional signs of artisanal craftsmanship. The seats are wrapped in hand-stitched leather, and the centerpiece of the cabin is a masterfully designed exposed linkage shifter. In an era dominated by digital interfaces, De Tomaso firmly rejects convention in favor of a tactile, human-centered experience.

Under the hood, the P72 is powered by a hand-assembled 5.0L supercharged V8 developed exclusively for the ‘P’ platform. This engine delivers an impressive 700 horsepower and 820 Nm of torque. Staying true to its analog philosophy, the P72 offers no selectable driver modes typically found in modern sports cars and supercars—only the driver, the road, the engine, and the pedal. The car’s dynamic performance is supported by a push-rod suspension system with a three-way manually adjustable setup, allowing drivers to tailor handling characteristics to their preferences.

With only 72 bespoke units available, each P72 will be individually commissioned, ensuring that every model is uniquely tailored to its owner. “The P72 was our promise to faithfully revive a historic marque,” says Norman Choi, CEO of De Tomaso Automobili. “This first production-specification vehicle embodies everything we stand for: a mechanical soul, timeless beauty, and a driving experience that rises above modern convention. It is our echo through time—now made real.”
Deliveries of this mechanical masterpiece, which marks the long-awaited revival of the De Tomaso brand, are set to begin in late 2025. Soon, the world will be able to witness the arrival of unique P72s to marvel at.
