The time has come for the European market to bid farewell to one of the greatest hot hatches ever made—the Honda Civic Type R. It is officially being phased out across Europe due to increasingly stringent emissions regulations, particularly the upcoming Euro 6e-bis standards set to take effect in 2026.

To honor the legacy of the Civic Type R, Honda has unveiled the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition, with only 40 units available alongside the final batch of standard Type Rs. Finished in Championship White with custom red decals, a black-painted roof, and carbon fiber accents inside and out, this special edition marks a striking send-off for the iconic model in Europe.

As a commemorative touch, each owner will receive a bespoke gift box that includes a numbered emblem and a carbon fiber key ring, along with custom-made floor mats and a fitted car cover.

Hannah Swift, Head of European Strategy and Product at Honda Motor Europe, stated: “As we say farewell to a true icon of the Honda automobile line-up in Europe, we thought it was fitting to give the Civic Type R the ultimate send-off with this special edition model offering our customers a unique opportunity to celebrate its legacy. The industry is changing, and our model range is having to evolve with it in accordance with European legislation. However, Type R has always been Honda’s ultimate expression of our passion for driving excitement, and we look forward to celebrating its heritage in the weeks and months ahead.”

The Ultimate Edition marks more than just the end of production—it stands as a lasting tribute to the performance legacy of Honda’s most celebrated hot hatch in Europe. While the Civic Type R will continue in other markets, its departure from Europe is a bittersweet farewell to an iconic vehicle.
