The Corvette C8 may be five years old now, but that hasn’t stopped Chevy from continuing to evolve the platform. Hot on the heels of the most recent Corvette variant, the ZR1, Chevy has teased a new Corvette that will be unveiled tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17th.
In an Instagram post, Chevy showcased the Corvette crest and the date of the unveiling, followed by the crest transitioning into a stylized “X” logo. The caption reads, “The hype is real. A new #Corvette is coming.” It has long been speculated that Chevy is planning to introduce a performance tier above the already insane ZR1, potentially called the Zora. Rumors suggest the Zora will combine the 1,064-hp, 5.5-liter turbocharged V8 from the ZR1 with electric motors, building on the hybrid technology Chevy developed for the Corvette E-Ray. If the power figures from the V8 and the electric motors remain unchanged, the new ’Vette could produce around 1,220 combined horsepower.
Fortunately, you won’t have to wait long—Chevy is set to unveil this mystery model tomorrow.
