With the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed in full swing, many manufacturers are pulling out all the stops—unveiling new projects, details, and upcoming models that keep enthusiasts on the edge of their seats. Lamborghini’s reveal was no exception. The Huracán’s successor, the Temerario, has now received the full race car treatment in the form of the Temerario GT3. Notably, it is the first Lamborghini competition car to be entirely designed, developed, and built at the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory in Italy.

Gone is the hybrid powertrain; in its place is a production-derived 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, now equipped with new turbochargers and a revised compressor unit to comply with international GT3 regulations, which prohibit hybrid systems. From the outset, the powertrain was engineered to integrate seamlessly into motorsport use. Key technical highlights include a flat-plane crankshaft with a 180-degree angle between the crankpins—a design optimized for racing engines to ensure superior fluid dynamic behavior. This twin-turbo V8 is mated to a six-speed transverse gearbox, while the exhaust system is a specially developed unit by Capristo, tailored for the Temerario GT3. The car also features a longer wheelbase and a wider track at both the front and rear, improving stability. For the first time in a Lamborghini GT3, the suspension incorporates new 6-way adjustable dampers from KW, the same supplier supporting the SC63 LMDh project.

Underpinning this beast is an aluminum spaceframe adapted from the production Temerario but optimized for racing through extensive simplification and weight-reduction measures. The frame has been modified for quick removal of the front and rear subframes, while the rear subframe was specially developed by Squadra Corse to accommodate the redesigned engine and transmission layout. All components associated with the road car’s hybrid system have been removed for further weight savings.

The bodywork is the result of a collaborative effort between the Squadra Corse aerodynamics team and Lamborghini Centro Stile. Together, they managed to retain the production car’s styling cues while adapting the design to meet the demands of the new engine, upgraded brake cooling systems, and the aerodynamic requirements for optimal downforce and drag reduction. Importantly, the body panels were designed to be quickly disassembled and reassembled, reducing pit stop times during repairs.

The Temerario GT3 has been engineered to compete under all GT3 regulations and to accommodate all major tire manufacturers, serving the needs of Lamborghini’s customer racing teams. Development will continue through the 2026 racing season, with its competitive debut set for a series of selected events. The maiden outing is scheduled for the 12 Hours of Sebring in March.
