While not as well-known as its predecessors, the RS 002 holds a special place in the Audi Quattro rally lineage. Designed as a successor to the S1 E2, the RS 002 was an experimental vehicle that aimed to push the boundaries of rally engineering. Unfortunately, it never saw competitive action due to Audi’s withdrawal from the rallying scene in the late 1980s. However, the RS 002 remains a symbol of Audi’s commitment to innovation and performance, even in the face of changing priorities.

Audi would unfortunately pull out of Rally Racing after the production of the Quattro RS 002 was built. The Prototype Audi never got to compete in the famed Group-B scene.

  1. I have owned several different models of Audi vehicles each with the Quattro Awd. I used the Audi a8l to start and continue my limousine business. These cars are pure luxury and power. I’ve retired from driving and have passed my business to our children knowing that they are safe while they drive our clients to their destinations. I currently drive an a7 Quattro with the 3.0l turbo. What a great driving experience!
