An extraordinarily rare 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight, 1 of 86 ever produced with its unique right-hand drive setup is going to auction! What truly elevates this car’s allure, is its long-hidden history. Since its original delivery, the car has been carefully kept from public view, remaining in the hands of private collectors and never seeing the light of day. Originally built for the South African market, the car was later stored by a private collector in Asia, where it accumulated less than 81 miles on the odometer—an almost unheard-of rarity for a car of this age. The fact that it has seen so little use adds an entirely new level of desirability for collectors who value originality and untouched condition.

What makes this 911 Turbo S Lightweight particularly special, though, is its development pedigree. The car was engineered under the guidance of Rolf Sprenger, the manager of Porsche’s Exclusive department, and designed as a road-legal counterpart to the car that won the 1992 IMSA Supercar Championship. Porsche’s intent was to create a high-performance machine that could blur the lines between track dominance and street-legal practicality. To achieve this, Porsche employed extensive weight-saving measures, stripping the car of traditional comfort features like air conditioning and sound-deadening materials, although buyers had the option to reinstate certain elements. What truly set the Turbo S Lightweight apart, though, were the carbon fiber-reinforced composite doors and trunk lids, lightweight windows, and a more potent engine setup. The 3.3-liter flat-six engine was upgraded with larger fuel injectors and a KKK turbocharger, allowing it to produce an impressive 381 horsepower. These modifications combined to give the car blistering performance that made it a force to be reckoned with on the road and track alike.

This particular example is finished in Grand Prix White, further adding to its appeal with a timeless and classic aesthetic. After decades in storage, the car recently underwent a comprehensive refurbishment, including a full repaint by experts based in Southern California to ensure it presents in immaculate condition. To no surprise this 911 Turbo S Lightweight is expected to draw significant attention at RM Sotheby’s upcoming London sale.

Estimates could fetch as much as $1,200,000 USD, a testament to both the desirability of this particular example and the enduring appeal of Porsche’s lightweight, performance-focused models. In a sea of extraordinary vehicles hitting the auction block, this 911 Turbo S Lightweight stands out as a true gem for serious Porsche collectors.
