KMP Speed Shop, based in Canada, recently took on a bold project by performing a daring engine swap in an RWB Porsche 911. Traditionally, a Porsche 911 houses the iconic flat-six boxer engine, a motor that has been celebrated for its balance, sound, and performance characteristics. So, when KMP opted to swap it out for a 2.4L turbocharged Honda K24 engine, it might seem like sacrilege to many Porsche purists. The idea of replacing the smooth, naturally aspirated six-cylinder with a high-revving, turbocharged four-cylinder from Honda is enough to raise eyebrows.

The build itself was no small feat. KMP Speed Shop utilized their extensive fabrication skills to create a fully custom roll cage, reinforce the frame, and construct a closed tunnel within the car to house the new setup. A custom adapter plate allowed the Honda engine to be mated to the Porsche transmission, while the turbo setup featured a G30-660 turbo, Turbosmart wastegate, and blowoff valve. To ensure proper cooling, a custom radiator system was mounted in the front trunk (frunk), with hidden lines to maintain the car’s clean aesthetic. The entire wiring system, both for the body and engine, was designed from the ground up, with an Ecumaster standalone system ensuring everything was managed with precision. KMP’s attention to detail and craftsmanship enabled this swap to function smoothly while retaining the aggressive, wide-body look of the RWB Porsche.

Although this build might send shivers down the spine of a Porsche purist, it’s hard not to appreciate the sheer ambition behind the project. Swapping a Japanese engine into such an iconic German platform showcases the lengths to which KMP Speed Shop is willing to push the boundaries of performance and creativity. While some may dismiss it as blasphemy, true enthusiasts recognize the audacity and engineering prowess required to complete such a unique build. It’s a reminder that the automotive world is all about innovation, and sometimes, the craziest ideas lead to the most fascinating results.

Recently, the RWB 911 hit the dyno and delivered an impressive 428 horsepower and 338 lb-ft of torque, showcasing the potential of the Honda K24 turbo swap in this legendary chassis.
