BMW revealed a new special edition of the 2026 BMW M2 at the 2025 Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. This very limited edition pays homage to the legendary BMW 2002 Turbo, featuring BMW’s pristine Alpine Black exterior and hand-painted Motorsport stripes.

Taking iconic cues from the 1973 2002 Turbo, this special edition showcases a black hood with the word “Turbo” displayed in mirrored text, echoing the original 2002 Turbo’s air dam graphics. The 1973 2002 Turbo was distinguished by muscular fender flares for wider wheels, a black rear spoiler, BMW Motorsport stripes that ran the length of the body, turbo badging at the rear, and the signature air dam that set it apart from other 2002 models. Similarly, the M2 Turbo Design Edition incorporates hand-painted Motorsport stripes, a carbon-fiber trunk-mounted spoiler, and special “Turbo” badging to honor its heritage.

Inside, the homage continues. Mirroring the original, the M2 Turbo Design Edition comes exclusively with a manual transmission—this time a 6-speed, compared to the 5-speed of the original. The interior is adorned with “M2 Turbo” and “Turbo” scripts, including on the sill plates and cup holder cover, emphasizing the car’s unique identity. Under the hood, the 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline-six produces 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. While the original 2002 Turbo represented BMW’s first foray into turbocharging, the new M2 benefits from 50 years of technological advancement in turbo engines.

Performance figures are equally impressive. The M2 Turbo Design Edition accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph, or 177 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package. Production is scheduled to begin in Q1 2026, with deliveries set to follow in Q2.
