Luftgekühlt, meaning “air-cooled” in German, is more than just a car show—it’s a celebration of a rich automotive legacy, specifically spotlighting the iconic air-cooled Porsche models that have shaped automotive history. Founded by two Porsche enthusiasts & long lasting friends, Patrick Long, a former professional race car driver, and Howie Idelson, a creative director and marketer, the event has evolved into a cultural phenomenon that brings together enthusiasts, collectors, and admirers from around the globe. Held this past weekend, Luftgekühlt 10 was staged against the cinematic backdrop of the Universal Studios Backlot in Los Angeles, offering a unique blend of automotive passion and Hollywood flair.
This year’s event marks the follow-up to the Air | Water event hosted by the same team back in April. Air | Water was a fresh venture for the Luftgekühlt team, expanding their focus beyond the event’s air-cooled roots to include water-cooled Porsche models, celebrating the brand’s evolution and modern legacy. The showcase allowed visitors to experience the full spectrum of Porsche’s engineering feats, spanning decades of design innovation. However, Luftgekühlt 10 was all about returning to the event’s origins—an ode to the air-cooled generations that enthusiasts hold close to their hearts.
